Amplifier Montréal is a movement launched by several partners from various industries in the city to influence Montréal’s ongoing transformation.

Our goal is to transform Montréal into a more innovative, inclusive and resilient city. This we will achieve by turning the dreams of our residents into reality, particularly of those whose voices are unheard, by issuing calls for action and by promoting unlikely collaborations between organizations from various industries.

The project was developed by IdéesFX on the initiative of Cities for People and in collaboration with the Young Foundation, and more than 250 organizations that, at one time or another, were called upon to take part in the project’s co-design process.

FAQ

What is Amplifier Montréal?

Amplifier Montréal is a movement launched by several partners from various industries in the city to influence Montréal’s ongoing transformation. Our goal is to transform Montréal into a more innovative, inclusive and resilient city. We will achieve this by turning the dreams of our residents into reality, particularly of those whose voices are unheard, by issuing calls for action, and by promoting unlikely collaborations between organizations in various industries. Our strategic plan is on the drawing board. Stay tuned!

Who is behind the project?

It was developed by IdéesFX on the initiative of Cities for People and in collaboration with the Young Foundation and more than 250 organizations that, at one time or another, were called upon to take part in the project’s co-design process.

Amplifier Montréal is now managed by a team working out of a project management office. This team reports to a steering committee made up of Centraide of Greater Montreal, Chantier de l’économie sociale, the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation, the Mirella & Lino Saputo Foundation, the Foundation of Greater Montreal, the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation and the Society for the Celebration of Montréal’s 375th anniversary. The City of Montréal also sits on the steering committee as an observer.

Does this model exist elsewhere?

The role of cities and urban centres is quickly changing, and all over the world, we find cities undergoing rapid transformation. The consensus among community groups and hip urbanites, it seems, is that successful transformations are the ones that give citizens and civil society the means to take action. Amplifier Montréal draws inspiration from various initiatives taken here and abroad, and seeks to create a “Made in Montréal” model.

How can I keep abreast of the project’s developments?

It’s simple. All you need to do is sign up for notifications to receive all the latest news, which will be posted on our website on a regular basis.

Will there be a request for proposals?

The strategic plan is on the drawing board. By subscribing to our notifications, you will receive all relevant information in due course.

Can I participate?

Amplifier Montréal will be at the service of all kinds of events and initiatives that dot our landscape. As the project moves forward and evolves, we will share all relevant information with our partners and with Montrealers who sign up for the mailing list.
